Hydro cooler is widely used in fast cooling of melon and fruit.
Melon and fruit need to be cooled below 10ºC within 1 hour from harvest moment, then put into cold room or cold chain transport to keep quality and extend shelf life.
Two types of hydro cooler, one is cold water immersing, the other is cold water spraying. Cold water is able to take away heat of fruit nut and pulp quickly as big specific heat capacity.
Water source can be chilled water or ice water. Chilled water is produced by water chiller unit, ice water is mixed with normal temperature water and piece ice.
